The Order of Saint Patrick (OSP) is the modern monastic religious community that operates, governs, and provides the spiritual leadership for the Celtic Catholic Church (CCC).
Our Vocation: Semi-Contemplative Service
The OSP is defined by its call to balance the deep spiritual discipline of the monastic life with active, real-world service.
- Patrician Identity: Members of the Order are sometimes referred to as Patricians, linking them directly to the legacy of our patron saint, who brought the light of Christ to Ireland through active spiritual warfare and bold evangelism.
- The Vows: Members of the OSP commit to the traditional monastic vows of Poverty (living simply and relying on God), Chastity (purity and devotion to God's will), and Obedience (to the Superior General and the Rule of the Order).
The Spiritual Discipline: Lectio Divina
The foundation of the OSP's spiritual authority and endurance is the mandatory daily practice of Lectio Divina (Divine Reading).
- This discipline is not merely Bible study, but a prayerful encounter with Scripture intended to sanctify the mind and heart.
- This daily discipline ensures that all OSP members and Chaplains are spiritually equipped to teach the Wired Word and engage in the demanding work of Spiritual Restoration.
Leadership and Ministry
The OSP is led by the Superior General. The Order is responsible for:
- Governance: Ensuring the CCC operates according to its Constitution and Catholic principles.
- Ministry Provision: Training and inducting all Chaplains who perform the ministerial functions of the Church (worship, teaching, pastoral care).
- Critical Ministry Management: Staffing and leading the Hospitality, Senior, and Spiritual Restoration Ministries.
If you feel called to a life of disciplined prayer, spiritual authority, and active service, we invite you to inquire about joining the OSP. Contact the Vocation Director for discernment.
