Our Mission

Rooted in the ancient Patrician faith, we are disciplined by contemplation to serve the world through radical hospitality, elder care, and spiritual restoration.

About the Celtic Catholic Church

Welcome to the Celtic Catholic Church (CCC). We are a spiritual community rooted in the deep tradition of Celtic Christianity and committed to the timeless principles of the Catholic faith. Our mission is to blend ancient worship with vital, relevant service in the modern world.

Our Identity: Faith Rooted in Tradition

The Celtic Catholic Church draws its spiritual DNA from the early faith of Ireland and Scotland, embracing a theology that is both mystical and highly practical.

  • Liturgy: Our worship is centered on the 1979 Book of Common Prayer (Rite II). This liturgy grounds our community in centuries of shared devotion, ensuring that our prayers and services are beautiful, orderly, and focused on the Sacraments.
  • Patrons: We hold a special reverence for Saint Patrick, whose evangelism and spiritual battle guide our mission, and Our Lady of Knock, whose quiet witness inspires our hope.
  • Teaching: We replace the traditional lectionary with the Wired Word adult Bible study. This unique approach ensures that our Scriptural reflection is always connected to current events, making the Gospel relevant and actionable in today’s complex world.

Our Governing Vocation: The Order of Saint Patrick (OSP)

The day-to-day operation and spiritual leadership of the Celtic Catholic Church is provided by the Order of Saint Patrick (OSP).

The OSP is a semi-contemplative religious order dedicated to balancing the discipline of monastic life with active ministry. All members of the OSP, including our ministers, maintain a daily practice of Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) as the foundation for their spiritual life and service.

  • Leadership: The OSP, and thus the CCC, is led by our Superior General.

Our Ministry of Service

We believe faith must be expressed through radical service and genuine care. This commitment is fulfilled through our Chaplains and three critical ministries:

1. Chaplains: Ministers of Mercy

Our spiritual and pastoral work is conducted by our Chaplains.

  • Unlike traditional hierarchical structures, we have removed the titles of Deacon, Priest, and Bishop. Instead, ministerial duties are performed by Chaplains who are inducted after completing a rigorous Chaplain Certification Program approved by the Order.
  • Eligibility: In accordance with our focus on service, both men and women are equally eligible to become Chaplains and lead our services, teach, and provide pastoral care.

2. Critical Outreach Ministries (The Three Mandates)

We dedicate ourselves to three mandated ministries that reflect the core of Christ's teaching:

  • Hospitality Ministry: We embody the Celtic spirit of Céad Míle Fáilte (a hundred thousand welcomes). This ministry ensures that every visitor and member feels seen, valued, and immediately at home in our community.
  • Senior Ministries: We honor the wisdom of our elders. This ministry provides comprehensive spiritual, social, and practical support to our senior members, ensuring their continued dignity and involvement in the life of the Church.
  • Spiritual Restoration Ministry: Dedicated to the work of spiritual healing, intercession, and deliverance, following the ancient example of St. Patrick's victory over paganism. This ministry operates under the specialized spiritual discipline of the OSP.

A Clear Doctrinal Stance

As a commitment to Scriptural and historical integrity, the Celtic Catholic Church maintains a definitive doctrinal position:

  • Holy Matrimony is affirmed as the sacred, lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. This foundational belief is explicitly woven into our Constitution and our Marriage Rite.
